Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-focused, evidence-based approach to healing trauma and chronic stress. How Somatic Experiencing Works

Somatic Experiencing works by helping clients tune into their bodily sensations, which often hold trauma and stress responses. By noticing and tracking physical sensations—sometimes called the “felt sense”—clients can gradually release tension that the body has been holding onto.

Core techniques include:

Tracking Physical Sensations: Observing subtle body cues related to stress and trauma.

Pendulation: Alternating attention between areas of tension and areas of comfort to restore balance.

Titration: Gently processing trauma in small, manageable steps to avoid overwhelm.

Grounding and Integration: Using breath, movement, and mindfulness to restore nervous system regulation.

Through this process, clients retrain their nervous system, reduce hyperarousal or dissociation, and build resilience.
